LEGENDS OF WOOD & INK

The launch event for Tales of Derwentdale took place on Saturday 26th October 2019 at The Lodge, Blackhill and Consett Park, a particularly fitting venue as the majority of subscribers to the original 1902 publication lived in Blackhill and Consett.

As part of the Conny Visual Arts Festival, printmaker Shona Branigan conducted drop-in workshops which enabled people to make relief prints from wood.

June Holmes, archivist at the Hancock Museum and secretary of the Bewick Society, brought along information and artefacts about Thomas Bewick.

In the middle of the day, I gave a talk about the making of the book.  It was marvellous to have significant people in attendance, many of whom have been instrumental in preserving Fawcett's reputation, particularly Ray Thompson and the other members of the Satley Fawcett Society.

Thank-you to everyone involved in making the event such a success, particularly Susan MacKell, Martin Weston, Shona Branigan and June Holmes.
